2019 was a busy but successful year. I completed my debut novel and started working on several other books. Keep reading to see my author goals for 2020.
Author Goal for 2020 #1
Of course, I would start off my author goals for 2020 with a goal for my debut series. Reborn, Book 1 in The Battlemage Trilogy, is officially live on Amazon for preorder. The eBook is available for preorder now, but the paperback will be available on 1/31/19. My first goal is to get Reborn in audiobook format by this summer. I plan to work with Findaway Voices. They have a great set up for indie authors to get their books in audio format and publish to over forty partners, including Audible and libraries.
Author Goal #2
This goal also involves The Battlemage Trilogy and is the next on my list to complete. I have started writing a prequel to Reborn with a tentative title of Beginnings. It will explore Iradell’s foundation as a nation and how Riehner created the Battlemages and brought peace to a war-torn land. My goal is to have it completed and available in eBook format for free download on my website in the next couple of months. In order to get the book for free, you will need to sign up for the VIP list on my website. If you have already joined the newsletter, I will send out an email with a link to get the book once it is finished.
Author Goal #3
This author goal for 2020 is probably the most vital to the success of my writing career. It is a goal that involves Book 2 in The Battlemage Trilogy, Rekindle. As some of you may know, I am being called to active duty with the Army. I am making it my goal while I am gone to complete book 2 and have it ready to be published no later than January 2021. I really hope it doesn’t take that long, and I can actually have it published this summer, but I’m trying to make realistic goals.
Author Goal #4
This goal takes my writing in a slightly different direction. I have always loved suspense and thriller books. One of the first stories that I wrote was based on a writing prompt I read on Reddit. In my downtime, I have started turning this 800-word short story into a novella. It is called If Only In My Dreams, and you can read the first chapter by clicking here. I would love to get this story finished and published on Amazon for Kindle Shortreads by the end of the year.
Author Goal #5
A personal goal rounds out my author goals for 2020, to get back in shape. I have really let myself go over the past couple of years. Life has been fun, but at the same time, it had stressful days also. I have eaten pretty much whatever I wanted and have really slacked off on working out. I have a physical fitness test with the Army later this year, and it has several new events in it. I plan to do well on this test and have started back in the gym.
Are My Author Goals for 2020 Achievable?
So what do you think? Can I achieve these five goals this year? Let me know in the comments how you think I’ll do. I know some of these goals sound far fetched; finishing two novellas and a full-length fantasy novel while serving on active duty and working on becoming more fit and healthy sounds crazy. But I’m going to do it. I’m determined. Make sure you keep in touch to follow my progress. You can find me on social media on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
