I know you’re all wondering when The Battlemage Trilogy Book 2 is coming
out. Trust me. I have asked myself the same thing multiple times over the last year. Reborn released last January, and I had planned to have the subsequent books’ release in January 2021 and 2022. Unfortunately, it’s February 2021, and book 2 has still not been released. Keep reading to find out why it’s been delayed.

I found out last year that I would be mobilizing with the Army Reserve.
Mobilizations are part of the job, and that is what we do. We pack up and leave our homes, our families, to serve the nation when we’re called. I was going to be working at the busiest mobilization site in the country, and although I knew I would be busy, I thought I would have time to do a lot of writing.

I was able to get some writing done. The Battlemage Trilogy will have a
prequel novella that covers the life of Riehner as a young man and how he first came to be in Iradell. I finished half of that story while there. I also worked with a narrator and had Reborn turned into an audiobook. If you haven’t listened to it yet, you should. I also outlined Book 2 and started writing it. However, the seven months I
was on active duty flew by. Time…there’s just never enough. I spent the first
month or so adjusting to the active duty life. Shortly after that, something we were not ready for reared its ugly head.

Covid. This terrible virus wreaked havoc over the entire globe. When
preparing to leave for active duty, I had heard mentions of Covid on the news, but it was mainly affecting China and Europe at the time. Within the first month of my mobilization, it had entered the U.S. Restaurants were closing. Mask mandates were being issued. It turned the world upside down.

As many of you may know, I am a part-time writer but a full-time nurse
practitioner. I have worked in healthcare for over 15 years. Once I made it
home from mobilization, Covid numbers were soaring, and it wasn’t long before the small town where I work made national headlines for being the city with the fastest-growing Covid cases per capita in the country.

There were many days when I would come home and try to write, but I
couldn’t. I was so mentally exhausted that I couldn’t put words on paper. I
tried. I would get my laptop out and stare at blank pages, the blinking cursor taunting me. My mind literally could not be creative.

But the local Covid cases are finally declining. That creative spark is
flickering again and is ready to set the keyboard ablaze. That bit of good news brings me to the Book 2 status update.

Battlemage Book 2 Update

Now we get to talk about happier things. I am finally getting my creative mojo back, and I am working diligently on Book 2. Lately, I’ve found it much easier to write after work. I still need to finish the rest of the manuscript, do some self-editing, and get it to an editor. Those things take time, so the book will not be released in Q1 of 2021 as I had planned; however, I expect to be able to give you all updates more frequently. 

Once I wrap up writing the book and have an idea of the final page count,
the cover design can begin. I will also release the title of Book 2 at that
time and do a cover reveal. I’m really excited to share that with you all. If

I will also be looking for beta readers for Book 2 soon. Beta readers are
