Amazing Washington D.C. Trip

I just returned from an amazing trip to Washington D.C. This was my first time in D.C. I have always been a huge history buff and have dreamed of visiting the nation’s capital. We saw so many wonderful sights while there. Have you ever visited D.C. or wanted to? Keep reading for some great things you can see in D.C.

Day 1 Of The Amazing Washington D.C. Trip

We loaded a charter bus at 6:00 P.M. and rode all night to get to D.C. by 7:00 A.M. After stopping for a quick breakfast, we met up with our tour guide and took a stroll down Constitution Avenue. Our first stop was at the White House Visitor’s Center. A motorcade went by carrying the Vice President to work for the morning.

We were able to get some pictures in front of the White House. It was fascinating to stand so close to the home of so many great men that have led this country. After the White House, we got to see the Capitol Building. Check out the pictures below.

We walked over to the Library of Congress and the Supreme Court building, then went to Ford’s Theater and the house across the street where President Lincoln passed away after being shot by John Wilkes Booth. The day ended by touring the Jefferson Memorial.

Day 2 Of The Amazing Washington D.C. Trip

Day two started out by touring Arlington National Cemetery and watching the changing of the guard. It was a very humbling experience. I highly recommend it to anyone who has a love for this country. Whether you always agree with everything that goes on within our government, soldiers freely put their lives on the line for the protection of this country and its people.

The remainder of the day consisted of visiting several other memorials. We went to the Air Force Memorial, the Iwo Jima Memorial, the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial, the FDR Memorial, the Pentagon 9/11 Memorial, the Vietnam and Korean War Memorials and topped it all off by visiting the Lincoln Memorial.

Day 3 Of The Amazing Washington D.C. Trip

We had to bid goodbye to our wonderful tour guide, David, last night. Everyone learned so much from him. He was extremely knowledgable of the D.C. area. We spent day three touring the National Zoo and the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History and American History.

There are great exhibits in both museums. I recommend checking them both out. The Museum of Natural History was the museum that Night at the Museum was based on. They have tons of fossils and some mummies on display also. The Museum of American History has the Ruby Red Slippers of The Wizard of Oz on display along with several displays about early American history plus several displays of modern history.

Conclusion

We had a great time on this amazing Washington D.C. trip. If you haven’t been to D.C., then you need to put it on your bucket list. The company we used was WorldStrides. They were fantastic and made the trip special. They specialize in trips for students. My wife is the counselor for a school and we went as chaperones for her classes. If you do go to D.C., you need to check out one of these Bubba cups. We were able to strap them on with belt and carry them easily with us. There are plenty of places to refill your water bottle while you tour the city.

We were so busy that I was not able to get any editing done on Reborn. I will get back to work this week. It should be finished and ready to go out to beta readers in the next week or two. Yay!
